1978 FORD PINTO
In 1971 Ford introduced the
first in a continuing succession of sub-compact
American-made cars in answer to the Asian competition. The
Ford Pinto was born under the influence of Japanese imports
with an urgency to compete against the newest wave of small,
fuel-efficient cars from over-seas. This pristine example
is from 1978 and is a uniquely low mileage, well maintained
car driven only 10,500 miles since new. It's 2.3 liter
4-cylinder engine is backed by the durable 4-speed,
manually-shifted transmission. With no power steering,
brakes or air conditioning fuel efficiency is the name of
the game with this great little American economy car. I
personally drove many Pintos in the late-1970s and
early-1980s and LOVED the simpicity, durability and
dependabiity of these great little cars. This one was
bought new in the San Diego, California area where it
resided until we purchased it in March of 2011. This is a
prime example of Ford's 1970s import-fighter and has never
been repaired featuring all factory-original body panels and
mechanical components and it simply drives like a dream!
Make an appointment today to see this rare, well preserved
and maintained cutie!
