1938 INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER D2 1/2-TON PICK-UP $21,500.
In the height of the 'art-deco' era of the late-1930's International commissioned the re-design of their light- and medium-duty truck line. The result was what you see here in this beautifully-designed International D2 1/2-ton pick-up...arguably the most beautiful and artful of any purpose-built truck ever built! International followed the design cues of top-of-the-line luxury cars such as Packard and Cord in their pontoon-style front fenders. The barrell-shaped grill design features stainless steel trim that wraps around and down the hoodsides completing that remarkable 'art-deco' design! This particular truck was lovingly restored by an amateur restorer/hobbyist with careful attention to keeping it factory-correct. As you can see, this goal was nearly accomplished as most components are genuine International Harvester issue. This truck is powered by the tough and reliable Green Diamond 214 cubic-inch-displacement 'L-head' engine backed by a correct 3-speed floor-shifted manual transmission. The brakes have been re-worked, the wiring harness has been re-done, though, not fully original, but functional. The bodywork started with a solid, nearly rust-free truck with the only evidence of rust repair on the bedsides and cargo floor. Industrial-grade, linoleum-backed carpeting was added to the solid, rust-free cab floor. This truck rides on four new bias-ply 6.50 X 16" blackwall tires. You can own this truck today for a fraction of the cost of restoring one yourself! Call us today to set up your private viewing of this remarkable piece of American truck-building history!
